Arts in Education Partnership Institute
Planning and Building Successful Partnerships between Community Arts Education Organizations and K-12 Schools

Sponsored by MetLife Foundation
Wednesday, Nov. 3, 9:00am - 5:30pm

True partnerships, characterized by mutual understanding and commitment, collaborative planning, and shared responsibility and accountability, have powerful, long-term effects on students, faculty, institutions and communities. The Partners in Excellence Institute will provide you the tools and training needed to launch or further develop successful arts education partnerships with K-12 schools.

The Institute is designed to bring together multiple partnership stakeholders—executive and program directors, teaching artists, public school administrators, classroom teachers, parents and others—who want to advance their practice of partnership and collaboration. Through facilitated discussions, practice using planning and assessment tools, and examination of structural issues, all grounded in case studies, we will work together to understand what makes partnerships between community-based arts education organizations and public schools effective over time.

We will begin by exploring the benefits and challenges of arts education collaborations, defining and examining the characteristics of effective and sustainable partnerships, and discussing issues with a leader of a highly successful partnership. We then will examine the management skills necessary for establishing and sustaining effective partnerships, practice applying new tools and techniques, and begin developing personal action plans.

Institute participants will:

As a result of your participation, you will gain tools, resources and know-how needed to launch new partnerships, deepen existing ones, and weather storms over the long term.

Registration includes morning coffee and a mid-afternoon snack.
